A New England food festival serving up oysters, clams, and lobster to live music at a waterfront park is one of the nation’s best events, according to USA Today.
The publication released its list of 10 best specialty food festivals in America on Wednesday, part of its 2025 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards, and the Rhode Island Seafood Festival ranked No. 10.
Festival goers at the top 10 spots enjoy “good food, good times, and plenty of opportunities to indulge” while eating local specialties grown or produced in the region, wrote USA Today.
Here is what USA Today wrote about the Rhode Island Seafood Festival:
Every autumn at the Rhode Island Seafood Festival, attendees can savor the freshest catches from the Atlantic Ocean. From clam chowder to lobster rolls, there is a wide array of East Coast seafood delicacies to taste and enjoy. Food competitions are a highlight of the festival, where local chefs show their skills in creating the most flavorful seafood dishes. Visitors love all the exceptionally delicious offerings, and there’s live music performances happing all weekend long.
This year’s 15th Annual Rhode Island Seafood Festival takes place Sept. 6-7 at the waterfront India Point Park in Providence. Advance tickets go on sale “around Memorial Day Weekend,” according to organizers, and those interested should follow the festival’s social media accounts for alerts.
The No. 1 specialty food festival in America is Picklesburgh in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, which takes place in July and bills itself as “the destination for all things pickled.”
For the 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards lists, USA Today travel experts select 20 nominees in topics from food to lodging, destinations to things to do. Then the publication asks readers to cast votes to determine the top 10.
