There are “hidden gem” restaurants across America serving up delicious food and loads of charm and one of the very best is in Connecticut, according to Tripadvisor users.

The Needham-based travel site released a list of the 25 best hidden gem restaurants in the U.S. on Tuesday, part of its Travelers’ Choice Awards: Best of the Best Restaurants, and Trattoria Amalfi in Mystic, Conn. ranked No. 9.

The restaurants on the list “certainly earn their winner status in both taste and local charm,” wrote Tripadvisor.

Trattoria Amalfi, a coastal Italian restaurant located in the heart of Olde Mistick Village, opened in May of 2023, and diners can relax in the restaurant’s main dining room, private dining area, at the bar, or on two outdoor patios.

Here’s what Tripadvisor wrote about Trattoria Amalfi:

Trattoria Amalfi puts you in a comfortable spot with its coastal-inspired Italian cooking and a welcoming atmosphere. The handmade pastas and fresh local seafood are standouts—ask about daily specials and don’t skip dessert. Service is relaxed but on point, and the patio’s a great call if you want to hang out with friends or family over drinks.
