Maine has one of the top date night restaurants in the U.S., according to Tripadvisor users
Maine also has two "hidden gem" restaurants.
Fine dining with a side of gorgeous scenery is a recipe for success at a waterfront restaurant in Maine just named one of the best in America for couples.
Needham-based travel website Tripadvisor released the results of its 2024 Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best Restaurants on Tuesday and the Reading Room Restaurant at the Bar Harbor Inn in Bar Harbor, Maine ranked No. 5. on its list of 10 best date night restaurants in the U.S.
“The ocean view from any window seat is a sight to behold,” wrote Tripadvisor. “Their menu is just as striking, with an array of choice cuts of meat, fresh seafood, and locally-inspired cocktails.”

The restaurant posted a “perfect date night itinerary” on its Facebook page, writing the following:

2) As you wait for your table at The Reading Room, sip a refreshing drink at our Oasis Club Lounge.

The No. 1 date night restaurant in the U.S., according to Tripadvisor, is Beach Walk at Henderson Park in Destin, Fla.
Several other Maine restaurants impressed Tripadvisor users. The following two restaurants were named among the 25 best hidden gems in the U.S.: Isa Bistro in Portland ranked No. 13, and Beal’s Lobster Pier in Southwest Harbor ranked No. 24. What’s more, The Boathouse in Kennebunkport ranked No. 19 on the website’s list of 25 best casual dining restaurants in the U.S. That’s Amore Italian Restaurant Miami Beach ranked No. 1 on both of those lists.

Two more New England restaurants outside of Maine were recognized as well. Black Mtn Burger Co in Lincoln, N.H. ranked No. 5 on the website’s list of 15 best pet-friendly restaurants in the U.S. (La Fuga in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. ranked No. 1) and The Silver Fork in Manchester, Vermont ranked No. 22 on the list of 25 best fine dining restaurants in the U.S. (Daniel in New York City ranked No. 1).
The rankings were determined based on the quantity and quality of traveler reviews and ratings posted on Tripadvisor between June 1, 2023 and May 31, 2024, as well as an additional editorial process.
