The coronavirus pandemic has had an enormous impact on the travel industry this year, what with closed borders, grounded planes, canceled events, and, as restrictions eased, new safety measures in place for dining, lodging, and transportation.

As folks began thinking about travel again, they were eyeing road trips and destinations closer to home, according to a Trip Advisor report. Over the summer, we asked readers how how they feel about staying in hotel rooms and received responses that ranged from “Hell no” to a resounding “Yes!”
