If a trip to Vegas isn’t in the cards, the odds of having an epic time at two New England casinos are pretty high, according to USA Today readers.

The publication released a list of the 10 best casinos that aren’t in Las Vegas on Wednesday, part of its 2025 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards, and two Connecticut casinos ranked high: Mohegan Sun in Uncasville ranked No. 2 and Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket ranked No. 3.

The U.S. has more than 1,000 casinos, wrote USA Today, and the ones on the best-of list stand out for their “expansive gaming options and stellar guest experiences.”

Mohegan Sun features two casinos: Casino of the Earth and Casino of the Sky. The spot also offers traditional Asian table games like sic bo, pai gow, and mini baccarat, wrote USA Today. Mohegan Sun was also named the No. 1 casino for slots and the No. 2 best casino hotel (No. 1 is Yaamava’ Resort & Casino at San Manuel in Highland, Calif.).

Foxwoods has five casinos, more than 30 dining options, and the largest poker room on the East Coast.

The No. 1 non-Vegas casino in America is Yaamava’ Resort & Casino at San Manuel.

For the 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards lists, USA Today travel experts select 20 nominees in topics from food to lodging, destinations to things to do. Then the publication asks readers to cast votes to determine the top 10.
