Amtrak is having a ‘kids ride free’ flash sale right now

The catch: The deal is for travel on three specific days in August.

If you plan to travel by train with your kids in late August, Amtrak is making it more affordable by offering a “kids ride free” flash sale.

The sale, which began Tuesday, applies to travelers on the Amtrak Downeaster who book by Sunday.

The Amtrak Downeaster is a 146-mile regional passenger train service that runs from Boston’s North Station to Brunswick, Maine. The train services 12 stations and operates five daily round-trips between Boston and Portland, Maine, with three round-trips extended to Freeport and Brunswick, Maine. Fares usually range from $6 to $30 one way.

During the flash sale, for every adult ticket purchased, a child between age 2 and 12 can ride free. However, the deal is only valid for travel on the following three dates: Aug. 26, 28, and 30. Travelers must use the code v818 when booking on amtrakdowneaster.com.
