Water Wizz of Westerly will close at the end of the season

A Rhode Island water park will close after 40 years in business.
Water Wizz of Westerly, located in Rhode Island, will close for good after the 2019 season concludes on Labor Day, the company announced Wednesday on Facebook. The family-owned and operated park has been open since 1979.
“An aging infrastructure, the ever-increasing cost to operate a small, seasonal business, and still recovering from significant financial impact of Superstorm Sandy have all factored into owner Mike Kells difficult decision to close the park,” the water park wrote.
“The Water Wizz family is humbled and grateful for your patronage,” the company wrote. “If you have the chance, stop by to get those last slides in before Labor Day, and share your Water Wizz memories with us.”
