A sandy spot between granite cliffs along the Atlantic Ocean in Maine is well worth visiting this summer, according to Conde Nast Traveler.

The publication released a list of America’s best beaches to visit in 2026 and included Sand Beach at Acadia National Park.

“These beaches are more than just places to swim; they’re destinations shaped by their mood, scenery, and the memories you make,” wrote Conde Nast Traveler about the beaches on its list.

Here’s what the publication wrote about Sand Beach:

Sand Beach sits between granite cliffs on Mount Desert Island and feels like a hidden spot on Maine’s rugged coast. The pale sand, made of shells, stands out against the dark, pine-covered cliffs. The Atlantic water is cold, even in summer, but that’s part of what makes it special. People come for the mix of soft sand and wild rocks. You’ll notice the fresh air, the smell of spruce trees, and the sound of waves hitting the stone. This is a place for quiet walks, not sunbathing, where nature feels fresh and untouched.

For those looking for accommodations, Conde Nast Traveler recommended staying at Under Canvas Acadia, named one of the best glamping resorts in America by Vogue, or The Asticou Hotel, named one of the coolest hotels in New England by Thrillist.

Other beaches on the list include Siesta Beach in Florida, Gulf Shores Public Beach in Alabama, and Ocean City Beach in Maryland.
