A brewery in Maine is one of the top spots in the nation for learning the beer making process, according to USA Today readers.
The publication released a list of the 10 best brewery tours in America on Wednesday, part of its 2026 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards, and Allagash Brewing Co. in Portland ranked No. 6.
“A great pint is always a pleasure, but watching the brewing process unfold — smelling the mash, seeing the tanks, meeting the makers — brings a whole new appreciation,” wrote USA Today.
Here’s what USA Today wrote about Allagash Brewing Co.:
Allagash Brewing Company offers an excellent selection of brewery tours, starting with Taste of Allagash, a 30-minute tour and barrel room exploration that includes two samples of featured releases. The 1-hour Signature Beer & Barrels Experience checks out the wild and sour barrels aging cellar and includes sampling five seasonal specialties.
Visitors can learn more about the Allagash tours, which begin at $18, and book them here.
Two other New England breweries were recognized by USA Today readers. Schilling Beer Co. in Littleton, N.H. ranked No. 9 among the 10 best brewpubs in America (No. 1 is Lua Brewing in Des Moines, Iowa) and Hill Farmstead Brewery in Greensboro Bend, Vermont ranked No. 10 among the 10 best beer gardens in America (No. 1 is Watermark Brewing Company in Stevensville, Mich.).
The No. 1 brewery tour in America is at Tröegs Independent Brewing in Hershey, Pa.
