Travelers planning adventure-filled getaways on a budget this winter should consider two New England destinations, according to TravelAwaits.

The travel website recently released a list of 9 affordable mountain towns for your winter adventure needs and included North Conway, N.H., and Ludlow, Vermont.

“Winter travel expenses can add up quickly for those who enjoy fresh powder and cold-weather outdoor adventures,” according to TravelAwaits, and provided a list of “reliably affordable mountain towns” across the U.S.

In North Conway, N.H., which the site called “one of the most expansive and affordable mountain towns in the U.S.,” travelers can access more than 1,600 skiable acres with popular spots in and around North Conway such as Attitash, Wildcat Mountain, and Cranmore Mountain, as well as snowshoeing and cross-country skiing around Greeley Ponds.

Ludlow is “a quieter and quainter mountain town,” the site wrote, where skiers and riders can tackle Okemo Mountain Resort, a tubing park, ice skating rink, and winter trails around Okemo Valley.

North Conway was named the best ski town in North America by USA Today readers in 2024.
