Travelers can now get their movie fix while staying at the Hyatt Regency Greenwich.
The hotel in Old Greenwich recently debuted a luxury 40-seat theater off its newly renovated atrium-style lobby. Townsend Cinema opened July 10 and blends hospitality with entertainment. The cinema is “the first of its kind” in the area and Greenwich’s only movie theater, according to the hotel.
Movie goers enjoy a premium cinema experience with state-of-the-art equipment, Dolby 7.1 surround sound, and a “luxe lounge feel,” according to Hyatt. Guests relax in luxurious oversized heated recliners amid plush drapery and ambient lighting.
“Townsend is a thoughtfully designed, softly lit space that blends warmth and sophistication,” said Shawn Nayyar, general manager of Hyatt Regency Greenwich, in a statement. “With plush seating, and a calming palette, the atmosphere feels both inviting and elevated. Every detail—from the ambient lighting to the artful decor—encourages connection, comfort, and a sense of quiet exclusivity.”
Guests can visit the hotel’s Glenna’s Cafe for gourmet grab-and-go items before the movie, or get dinner and drinks at the hotel’s Townsend Bar.
Plans for handcrafted cocktails, gourmet bites, a curated selection of beer and wine, and signature popcorn flavors are in the works, as well as specialty cocktails inspired by each movie.
The new theater is perfect for a date night, private movie screening, or a corporate or social gathering, according to the hotel. It is open to the public as well as Hyatt guests.
Townsend Cinema shows movies seven days a week and costs $20 for adults and $17 for children age 12 and under during the week, and $24 for adults and $18 for children Friday through Sunday. Check out the movie schedule.
The 374-room Hyatt Regency Greenwich recently underwent a $40 million renovation. During the renovation, the hotel partnered with Monoplex, an international company that specializes in hotel theater installations, to create the theater.
For those looking for overnight accommodations, Hyatt Regency Greenwich hotel rates start at $270 per night.
