A famous haunted house in Fall River is going all out on the 133rd anniversary of a murder that happened there more than a century ago.
The Lizzie Borden House, owned by U.S. Ghost Adventures, will host special guided home tours and live reenactments of one of America’s most famous unsolved crimes as well as cemetery tours during a special “Murder-versary” weekend taking place Aug. 2-4.
Lizzie Borden was accused in the Aug. 4, 1892 double ax murders of her father, Andrew Borden, and stepmother, Abby, at the three-story clapboard house. Lizzie Borden was charged but acquitted of the murders.

Special guided tours of the house will include new Victorian wallpaper in the Bridget Sullivan room, newly unveiled exterior work with historically accurate 1892 paint colors, and a new recreation of the original fence from when Mr. Borden owned the home.
Visitors will witness live reenactments “that bring the Borden house to life as if it were the morning of the murders,” according to organizers. And cemetery tours will trace the lives and deaths of key Borden family members.
The Borden sisters loved animals, so the weekend will also include a pet food drive benefiting The Faxon Animal Shelter. All guests are encouraged to bring a donation of pet treats or supplies.
Guests who dare can also book a room at the spooky spot.
The Lizzie Borden House was named the most haunted house in Massachusetts in 2024.
