A slopeside hotel in Southern Vermont welcomed skiers and riders with a new name and look this season.

The 65-room Sun Lodge in Peru, previously known as The Lodge at Bromley, reopened just in time for ski season after undergoing a renovation between March and December. It is under new ownership with Saltaire Hotels and managed by Migis Hotel Group.

The 50 year-old property is located at the base of Bromley Mountain, known as the “Sun Mountain” for its south-facing slopes. Sun Lodge, with panoramic mountain views and ski-in and ski-out patios, offers a classic lodge-inspired design with contemporary amenities.

“Our vision for Sun Lodge is to blend the nostalgia of the property’s rich history with modern comforts that truly capture the spirit of Southern Vermont,” said Bob Thomas, owner of Saltaire Hotels, in a statement. “We’ve taken great care in refurbishing the hotel to ensure it feels both familiar and refreshed, offering guests an inviting retreat at the foot of Bromley Mountain.”

The team renovated “the entire existing structure, touching all surfaces,” according to the company, which included reworking the hotel’s entrance, replacing the original oil fired heat and hot water systems with high efficiency HVAC throughout, and installing a new kitchen.

The guest rooms, many of which have ski-in and ski-out patios that provide direct access to Bromley’s slopes, have new furniture and art work, plush bedding, Salt & Stone bath amenities, and “upscale touches.”

Guests at the hotel enjoy views of either the West River Valley or the “Golden Triangle” formed by Bromley, Magic, and Stratton Mountains.

The hotel’s signature restaurant, The Trailhead, is a reimagined dining experience where guests enjoy entrees with ingredients sourced from nearby farms, and sip cocktails, wine, and craft beers in a rustic atmosphere with mountain views.

Travelers can explore the area’s forests, scenic hiking paths, and mountain streams during the warmer months.

“Whether visiting for skiing in the winter or outdoor adventures during the warmer months, we are excited to welcome travelers and provide them with an authentic Vermont experience that celebrates the natural beauty and charm of this region,” said Thomas.
