Travelers seeking superb design in their accommodations can choose from two of the best-looking hotels in the world right here in New England, according to Town & Country.

The publication recently released its T&C Hotel Awards 2024: The Best New Hotels on the Planet and included Raffles Boston among the top city hotels and Longfellow Hotel in Portland, Maine, among the top minimalist hotels.

The 53 winners out of 172 nominees are “aesthetically arresting,” according to the publication.

“Few travel moments, after all, measure up to arriving at your hotel and falling in love at first sight — the shapes! the colors! the views! the vibe!” Town & Country wrote.

Raffles Boston in Back Bay, the first North American property for the luxurious brand, is a 35-story mixed-use tower with 147 hotel rooms where guests enjoy a 17th floor sky lobby, Writer’s Lounge, spa, speakeasy, fine-dining restaurants, and more.

Town & Country had this to say about Raffles:

… The hushed guest rooms provide a sense of calm in bustling Back Bay, whereas the buzzy public spaces have more razzle dazzle.

The 48-room Longfellow Hotel, a five-story boutique hotel in Portland’s historic West End, is “thoughtfully designed to enhance wellness and elicit joy,” according to its website. The hotel has a cafe, bar, and a spa inspired by Nordic traditions.

Here’s what the publication wrote about the Longfellow Hotel:

… Think less a modernist aesthetic here, more a certain timeless New England restraint. The guest rooms at the Longfellow are comfortable and not flashy, with soaking tubs and views of Portland from TRNK couches. …

The winning hotels in the publication’s seventh annual awards had to have opened since 2023 and were nominated by T&C editors and travel advisors. They are featured in the magazine’s April issue.
