A Vermont mountain lodge in Stowe debuted nine luxury cottages with private patios this winter season.

Tälta Lodge, a Bluebird by Lark property that opened in 2021, now offers standalone luxe “stugas,” the Swedish word for cottage, along with 52 guest rooms and suites. The stuga suites opened in November.

Tälta Lodge, a modern take on the area’s original 1960s mountain lodges, is located along the banks of Little River near Mount Mansfield, the state’s highest peak. Stowe was recently named among the best ski resorts in the world by Travel + Leisure.

The 425-square-foot stugas boast floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the property’s scenic grounds, bedrooms with “ultra-soft” linens, kitchenettes stocked with essentials, and private patios with outdoor seating and fire pits.

The bathrooms in each stuga suite offer heated floors and walk-in showers.

Tälta Lodge was named one of the most exciting hotel openings by Conde Nast Traveler in 2021 and The New York Times named it among 8 new hotels for winter enthusiasts in the U.S. and Europe in 2022.

The rooms, which have modular gear walls and ski and mountain bike storage, were designed “with a roaming spirit top of mind,” according to the lodge.

Guests who stay in the stuga suites also have access to the common spaces at the lodge, which include an indoor heated pool, outdoor hot tub, yoga room, sauna, and new onsite cocktail bar.

The cottages are pet-friendly and offer free parking for one vehicle.

The starting winter rate for the stuga suites is $360.
