Whether you want to carve your pumpkins, display them, or even eat them, there are plenty of patches throughout the region to help you get into the fall mood. We asked tourism agencies across New England for their recommendations for the best pumpkin patches in their respective states.

Bishop’s Orchards Farm Market & Winery (Guilford, Connecticut)

Bishop’s has been around since 1871 (and has changed quite a bit over the years). They have a large PYO—or pick your own—section of the farm, and from mid-September to Halloween, you can pick your own pumpkins and other fall crops, such as mums, corn stalks, gourds, squash, and Indian corn. Bishop’s also has a winery and a farm store.

Lyman Orchards (Middlefield, Connecticut)

This Middlefield, Connecticut, farm, which is celebrating its 275th anniversary this year, hosts some special events, including a road race for kids on November 12. Lyman also offers a variety of pick your own events throughout the year. At the moment, you can nab one of two kinds of pumpkins: sugar or carving.

Sandy River Farms boasts a farm market (think: fresh homemade cookies, whoopie pies, berry turnovers). Eat up before or after you go pumpkin picking and have a go at their “corn maize.”

Cider Hill Farm in Amesbury, Massachusetts, has been around since 1978. Along with picking pumpkins and other in-season fruits and vegetables, you can shop in the farm store, where you can buy cider made on-site, local meats and cheeses, baked goods from farm bakers, and lots of other speciality foods.

Fletcher Farm (Southampton, Massachusetts)

Fletcher Farm is a pumpkin patch, dairy farm, and farm stand. In fact, the 100-acre farm is a member of the Agri-Mark/Cabot Creamery Cooperative in New England and has a herd of 150 cows.

When you take a stop to pick you own pumpkins at Kimball Fruit Farm, you should also get a bag of their apples. They have over 35 varieties, and they supply those and other fruits to a variety of local restaurants, many of which are in the Boston area.

McKenzie’s Farm (Milton, New Hampshire)

At pet-friendly McKenzie’s Farm, you can pick apples and pumpkins, tomatoes, raspberries, and blueberries. Especially if it’s a clear day, you can also expect to experience amazing views, even of Mount Washington.

There’s a little bit of everything at Escobar’s. Not only can you pick pumpkins, you can walk through an eight-acre corn maze, go on a hay ride, and take a tour of a dairy farm.

The 43-acre Morris Farm has been in operation since 1915 and is third-generation family-owned. Here you can visit the pumpkin patch, take a walking tour of the farm, and stroll through the corn maze.
