Boston Could Use Johnny T’s New York Subway Tips, Too
When you rode the T to work this morning, you were most likely able to check off a few squares on your beloved MBTA Bingo board. And as much as anyone loves winning MBTA bingo, doing so is more often a sign that you’re losing in life thanks to the guy taking a nap and drooling on your shoulder.
Well worry no more! Not only have the fine folks over at BDCwire put together an etiquette guide for the Green Line, but a brash puppet from New York is also doing his part by reminding everybody that when they are riding the train, there are rules.
His name is Johnny T and his primary mission is to warn New Yorkers of their daily subway missteps. But once you start watching, you’ll realize that describing morning rush hour as “going to a party at a stranger’s studio apartment, at 7 in the morning, with 800 other people who all hate each other’’ is something we can all agree on.
Of course, the best part of Johnny T’s lesson is that he combines that shared hatred of public transportation with practical tips that everyone needs to hear.
Think you’re entitled to push your away onto the T before letting people off? You can learn from Johnny T.
Think your bag deserves a seat? You can learn from Johnny T, too.
Think you shouldn’t give your seat up to a pregnant lady? You’re a jerk, and you can learn from Johnny T.
So watch the video, learn those lessons and more from Johnny T, and save us from our weekly MBTA Bingo “victories’’ by simply not being an idiot on the T.
