2 local cities are among America’s most romantic for winter travel, according to TripAdvisor

If booking a romantic winter trip is on your list of New Year’s resolutions, you won’t have to travel very far. TripAdvisor recently named Boston and Newport, Rhode Island, among America’s 15 most romantic cities for winter travel.

According to the Needham-based travel site, winter romance in Boston means “uncovering the streets and boutiques of pretty Beacon Hill, visiting the world-class art museums, strolling in the orderly city parks, or sharing a box of North End cannoli.”

As for the Rhode Island city, Newport is “particularly pretty in winter when it’s all lit up for Christmas,” wrote the travel site. TripAdvisor touted the city’s 3.5-mile Cliff Walk for its panoramic views of the Atlantic and “spectacular coastal architecture,” as well as the city’s “handsome” mansions.
To determine the most romantic cities for winter travel, TripAdvisor analyzed the site’s reviews to determine which cities had the highest percentage of reviews that were “romantic-oriented.”
