According to Travel + Leisure, the best hotels “introduce you to your destination the moment you drop your bags.” To make it onto the magazine’s list, readers were asked to rate the hotels on their rooms, location, service, facilities, food and drink, and overall value, according to the publication.

“… [O]n a frosty Boston night, where else would you want to bed down than at the XV Beacon, where every one of its 63 rooms is outfitted with cashmere throws and a gas fireplace?” wrote Travel + Leisure.

Boston itself, was named the 13th best city in the country in the magazine’s annual World’s Best Awards.
