Logan Airport saw a record amount of passengers in 2024.
The airport served 43 million travelers, up from its previous 42.5 million record set in 2019.
“I am extremely proud of all the great work our airport community does every day to provide a smooth and enjoyable travel experience for our passengers,” said Rich Davey, CEO of Massport, in a statement. “As we continue to grow, it is
essential that we manage our growth, and continue to work alongside our neighboring communities, and reduce our emissions to promote a more sustainable future. This milestone is huge for Logan, not only because it’s a
new record for the airport, but also signaling that we are connecting more people across the globe.”
Logan Airport serves more than 30 countries with 84 domestic and 59 international destinations. New international destinations include Funchal, Portugal, and Abu Dhabi. Logan welcomed back airlines Aeromexico with a flight to Mexico City and Hainan Airlines with a flight to Beijing, as well as two new airlines: Austrian Airlines and Etihad.
The Logan Express (LEX), which provides transportation to and from the airport, also broke a record this year by serving more than 2.5 million passengers. The LEX has doubled its ridership over the past 10 years, according to Massport, which has expanded the system. In August, Massport moved the Peabody LEX site to Danvers, more than doubling the amount of parking. Due to demand, the Framingham Logan Express site is expanding to include about 1,000 more parking spaces.
Massport is undergoing upgrades and improvements to improve customer service, enhance safety and security, and meet environmental and sustainability goals.
Massport is spending more than $500 million in Net Zero projects over the next five years. A project in the Terminal B garage that separated private vehicles from buses, increased usable curb space, and improved pickup and drop off areas was recently completed. Passengers will see roadway improvements and the beginning stages of a new multi-level transportation hub at Terminal E. Another project underway is a post-security connector for Terminals A and B, so passengers can easily connect between all terminals.
Reagan Berry of Boston was honored on Tuesday as the 43 millionth passenger with free tickets from Delta Air Lines.
Logan Airport provides nearly 20,000 jobs and generates nearly $20 billion annually in economic benefits.
