American Airlines will launch a Boston-Austin route in 2020
Plus special flights to cities hosting the Masters Tournament, the Kentucky Derby, and the Berkshire Hathaway annual shareholders meeting.
American Airlines will launch a new route between Boston and Austin, Texas, in 2020 and also fly Bostonians to high-profile events in Georgia, Nebraska, and Kentucky next year.
The Fort Worth, Texas-based airline said it’s catering to the tech community by launching service between Austin, Texas, and both Boston and San Jose, Calif. in April. The year-round route between Boston and Austin will operate twice daily on weekdays beginning April 7 on a Boeing 737-800. Travelers can get their tickets beginning Dec. 16.
“Our customers have expressed the desire for more routes between major tech cities, and we’re pleased to respond to their needs by helping them reach these important destinations with ease,” said Alison Taylor, senior vice president of global sales and distribution, in a press release.
The airline also announced it will offer flights from Boston to airports near several major events in 2020.
Bostonians can fly to Augusta, Ga., between April 7-13 for the Masters Tournament; to Louisville, Ky., on April 30 and May 3 for the Kentucky Derby; and to Omaha, Neb., on May 1 and 3 for the Berkshire Hathaway annual shareholders meeting. Travelers can book those flights beginning Dec. 22.
