12 of the world’s top 20 airlines fly out of Logan, AirlineRatings.com says. Here’s how they stack up against each other.

JetBlue did not make the top 20, but was awarded best low-cost airline.

AirlineRatings.com named the the world’s 20 best airlines for 2020 last week, and 12 of the airlines fly out of Logan International Airport.

The list is part of the safety and product rating website’s annual Airline Excellence Awards, which includes winners in 13 categories as well as the best overall. The top airline in the world, according to the report, is Air New Zealand. The highest-ranked airline that flies out of Logan is Cathay Pacific, which ranked No. 5.

Other airlines on the list that fly out of Logan: Emirates (No. 6), Virgin Atlantic (No. 7), Qatar Airways (No. 9), Lufthansa (No. 11), Japan Airlines (No. 13), KLM (No. 14), Korean Airlines (No. 15), Hawaiian Airlines (No. 16), British Airways (No. 17), Alaska Airlines (No. 18), and Delta Air Lines (No. 19).

What’s more, Delta Air Lines was awarded best long-haul airline for the Americas, Emirates best for in-flight entertainment and best long-haul Middle East/Africa, Cathay Pacific for best long-haul Asia, Lufthansa for best long-haul Europe, and Qatar Airways for best business class and catering. JetBlue, Logan’s largest carrier, did not make the list of 20 best airlines, but snagged best low-cost airline for the Americas.

The awards are judged by seven editors who look at major safety and government audits and use 12 key criteria that include fleet age, passenger reviews, profitability, investment rating, product offerings, and staff relations. This year, AirlineRatings.com named double the amount of overall winners, expanding the list from 10 to 20.
