Upgraded Points revealed the U.S. airline most likely to bump passengers

Just in time for the holiday travel season, travel website Upgraded Points released a list of U.S. airlines most likely to bump passengers from their seats. Frontier Airlines, which flies out of Terminal E at Logan International Airport, topped the list.

“Airline bumps are a part of the reality of air travel, and every time you book a ticket, you run the risk of being denied boarding,” Upgraded Points wrote. “However, there are significant differences in your chances depending on which airline you book your trip on.”
Upgraded Points looked at the number of involuntarily denied boardings per 100,000 passengers from the top U.S. airlines in 2018, using data from the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Frontier, the Denver-based low-fare carrier, bumped 6.28 passengers per 100,000, according to the report.
The other airlines most likely to bump passengers are Spirit Airlines, Alaska Airlines, PSA Airlines, and American Airlines, according to the report.
Upgraded Points called Delta Air Lines “the most reliable U.S. airline” because it ranked last of the 14 airlines on the list, bumping .02 passengers per 100,000, according to the report.
Frontier Airlines made headlines Friday after the carrier apologized to customers when a technical problem resulted in a flight cancellation scare via email.
