Massport announced Thursday that Southwest Airlines will move from Terminal A to Terminal B on Aug. 29. After that date, all ticketing and operations will occur at Terminal B Gates 31A-35. Airport signage is currently being updated to reflect the change.
The move is part of the nearly $200 million Terminal B Optimization project at the airport, which involved renovating 70,000 square feet of the existing terminal and adding 75,000 square feet of new space. The terminal now connects all 37 gates post-security, consolidates three TSA checkpoints into one, and offers new Automated Screening Lanes. American Airlines moved all of its operations to one side of the terminal, which freed up a number of gates for the Southwest move, according to a press release.
Also as part of the project, Terminal B now has a Great Hall, unveiled in June, which includes exhibits that celebrate New England athletes and sports teams, new couches and lounge chairs, a pet relief station, a wall of energy-efficient windows, a new area for kids, and local restaurants such as Lucca and Kelly’s Roast Beef.
Southwest has been servicing Logan Airport since 2009.
