A suitcase started smoking while getting screened at Logan
“TSA is focused on ensuring that nothing catastrophic occurs on an airplane, and so of course a suitcase that has smoke emitting from it is definitely suspicious.”
Smoke began pouring out of a suitcase at Logan airport Saturday when it was getting screened by security personnel.
The incident led to the evacuation of a checked baggage screening room for nearly an hour, as Massport Fire & Rescue and a state police bomb unit investigated the cause, according to the Transportation Security Administration.
It turned out a lithium battery in an e-cigarette caught fire, officials said.
