It will cost more to park at these 2 popular Massachusetts beaches this summer
Attention, Massachusetts residents: If you’re planning a trip to Nantasket or Nahant beach this summer, be prepared to shell out some extra cash.
The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation is implementing parking fee hikes on state residents at the beaches in Hull and Nahant, respectively, as part of a plan conceived and approved under Gov. Deval Patrick’s administration.
The per-day parking fee for Bay Staters will increase from $10 to $15 at Nantasket and $5 to $10 at Nahant, according to an email from a department spokesman.
In addition, the department is upping parking fees on non-Massachusetts residents at the same two beaches, as well as several other state beaches, by $4 to $13 depending on the beach. It’s also raising fees on out-of-staters at campsites.
The fee hikes will go into effect July 1.
