Longtime fans of Story Land, which opened in New Hampshire’s White Mountains in 1954, will recognize two returning rides in 2026.

The 35-acre fairy tale theme park in Glen is bringing back the beloved rides Turtle Twirl and Crazy Barn.

Turtle Twirl, which debuted in 1996, was removed to make way for the park’s new Moo Lagoon in 2024, according to park officials. The green, spinning turtles in Turtle Twirl are “the fastest spin in the park,” according to the park’s website, and the ride’s new location will be near Moo Lagoon.

The red, rectangular Crazy Barn, which the website describes as “the craziest spinning barn in the country,” will return to its original location in the back of the park near the tractors.

Officials also announced that the park’s operating hours will be extended to 6 p.m. for the 2026 summer season, which will feature the return of popular programs such as Nostalgia Nights, Neighbor Days, and the Happy Hauntings event series.

“We’re excited to welcome Turtle Twirl and Crazy Barn back for the 2026 season,” said Chris Kearsing, general manager at Story Land, in a statement. “Bringing back these iconic attractions, and expanding our operating calendar, reflect our dedication to offering fresh experiences while honoring the timeless traditions families love.”

The park is open seasonally from May to October and includes dozens of themed rides and games, as well as live entertainment.

Guests can save up to $50 off 2026 season passes during the park’s Black Friday sale. Select season passes include free friend tickets, free parking, discounts on food and retail, and more.

Earlier this year, Story Land and other longstanding New England attractions were acquired by Herschend, the world’s largest family-owned themed attractions company.
