We have some happy campers in New England, according to The Dyrt.
The camping website released the results of its 10 best places to camp in the Northeast Region in 2025 on Tuesday and half of the winners are located in New England.
Nearly 81.1 million Americans camped in 2024 and 5.8 million were first time campers, according to The Dyrt.
In the Northeast, campers “are never too far from mountains, lakes, forests and miles of rugged coastline no matter where your next camping adventure lies,” wrote the website.
Here are the winning New England spots and their ranking:
1. Town Hall Road in Chatham, N.H.
2. Schoodic Woods Campground in Winter Harbor, Maine
3. Normandy Farms Campground in Foxborough, Mass.
4. Mount Desert Campground in Bar Harbor, Maine
6. Grafton Notch Campground in Newry, Maine
The top-ranked Town Hall Road, in the heart of the White Mountain National Forest and the only free campground on the list, offers a true backcountry experience, wrote The Dyrt, and is “perfect for those seeking solitude and natural beauty.”
Schoodic Woods Campground “is nestled on the Schoodic Peninsula in Acadia National Park, which is among the most beautiful natural settings in the Northeast,” wrote the website.
Campers at Normandy Farms, located between Boston and Cape Cod, have access to a 20,000-square-foot recreation lodge which The Dyrt calls “the heart of the resort.” It features an indoor pool, fitness center, sauna, yoga, and massage.
Minutes from Acadia National Park is Mount Desert Campground on Mount Desert Island, which “provides a serene and well-maintained camping experience,” wrote The Dyrt, and campers can choose from waterfront as well as wooded spots.
Finally, Grafton Notch Campground is “a nature-lover’s paradise” that’s ideal for hikers and outdoor enthusiasts, according to the website.
