Spirit Airlines is the best U.S. airline of 2026, according to personal finance website WalletHub.

The Florida-based low-cost airline was also named the most affordable and most reliable airline in the U.S. in the WalletHub report. It is the second consecutive year that Spirit has been named the best overall airline.

WalletHub analyzed 16 metrics across the following four categories using 2025 U.S. Transportation Department data on the nine largest U.S. airlines and two regional carriers: baggage and departures; animal incidents; in-flight comfort and cost; and safety.

Spirit has the lowest rate of cancellations, delays, mishandled luggage and denied boardings, according to the report.

“We’re incredibly proud of this recognition, and our Guests are the real winners because they don’t have to choose between value, reliability and a great experience when they fly with us,” said Dave Davis, president and chief executive officer at Spirit Airlines, in a statement. “A big thank you to our Team Members whose commitment and dedication have made these accolades possible for another year.”

JetBlue, a leading carrier at Logan Airport, ranked No. 6 and was named the most comfortable airline along with Hawaiian, American, and Southwest. The four airlines have the best in-flight experience, according to the report, offering free amenities such as Wi-Fi, extra legroom, and complimentary snacks and beverages.
