Logan Airport is getting its first open-air terrace.

American Express will open a two-story lounge, complete with a terrace, at Logan’s Terminal C, the company announced on Wednesday. The swanky Centurion Lounge, one of the largest in its network, will open in 2029.

The lounge is “inspired by Boston’s historic character and coastal charm,” according to the company, and will include local artwork and design elements that reflect the city’s green spaces, harbor vistas, and academic legacy. Signature amenities will include premium food and beverage options, seating, complimentary high-speed WiFi, USB ports, dedicated workstations, and more.

When American Express proposed the 20,000 square-foot lounge last year, Massport approved a budget of up to $75 million for building its shell, reported The Boston Globe, and American Express committed to spending $391 million, including $10 million in annual rent to Logan.

“We’re excited to collaborate with American Express to start building the new Centurion Lounge in Terminal C at Boston Logan, which will be a premium space for passengers to relax and recharge,” said Ed Freni, executive director of aviation at Massport, in a statement. “The space will have thoughtfully designed features and Logan’s first ever open-air patio with views of the airfield, and will deliver an elevated experience that reflects our commitment to enhancing the customer experience.”

American Express currently has 32 Centurion Lounge locations around the world, which are accessible for certain card members.

Logan’s Terminal C is also getting a new lounge by JetBlue, slated to open later this year, an 11,000 square-foot lounge called BlueHouseBOS.
