Flagship Dominican airline Arajet lands at Logan International Airport on Friday.

The budget airline announced in May that it would launch nonstop service between Boston and Santo Domingo, the largest city and capital of the Dominican Republic.

The flight is offered four days a week, on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays, and travelers fly on a Boeing 737 MAX.

“Boston is a vital market for Arajet, home to one of the largest Dominican communities in the U.S,” said Victor Pacheco, CEO and founder of Arajet, in a statement. “This new nonstop service provides New Englanders with an easy, affordable way to experience the culture, history, and natural beauty of Santo Domingo, while also offering seamless connections to more than 25 destinations across the Caribbean and Latin America.”

As with other low-cost airlines, Arajet charges extra for optional add-ons such as seat selection, carry-ons, checked bags, and more. Customers can choose from four categories of fare bundles: basic, classic, comfort, and extra.

Arajet began operations in 2022 and expanded to the U.S. this year. Boston is the sixth U.S. route and the airline also flies to Chicago, Miami, Orlando, and New York, and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

“Now that our sixth U.S. route has launched, we’ve set our sights on new locations to continue expanding next year,” said Pacheco.

Arajet travelers can connect to dozens of destinations from Santo Domingo, including Aruba, Colombia, Costa Rica, and more.
