New England is world-renowned for its scenic foliage, but three areas in particular have emerged as favorites this year, according to Priceline.
The online travel agency sent Boston.com a list of the 10 best places to see fall foliage in 2025 and Bretton Woods, N.H. ranked No. 5, Smugglers’ Notch Pass in Vermont ranked No. 9, and the Berkshires in Mass. ranked No. 10.
The top spot for foliage is Hudson Valley, N.Y., according to the list.
Priceline comprised the list by analyzing hotel searches for Oct. 10-24 by U.S.-based consumers in regions known for fall foliage.
Priceline’s 10 best U.S. scenic areas for leaf peeping:
1: Hudson Valley, N.Y.
2: Boulder, Colorado
3: Snoqualmie Valley, Washington
4: Bucks County, Pennslyvania
5: Bretton Woods, N.H.
6: Columbia River Gorge, Oregon
7: French Lick West Baden, Indiana
8: North Lake Tahoe, California/Nevada
9: Smugglers’ Notch Pass, Vermont
10: The Berkshires, Massachusetts
The three New England areas on the list have been lauded by travel publications over the years.
In Bretton Woods, which Priceline named among the best places for leaf peeping in the U.S. for 2024, visitors enjoy panoramic views of the fall foliage in the White Mountains through gondola rides and zipline excursions.
Stowe, Vermont has been named one of the top spots for foliage in the U.S. by U.S. News & World Report, which recommended the scenic drive along along the Smugglers’ Notch Pass through the Green Mountains in Smugglers’ Notch State Park between mid-September and the end of October.
Finally, the Berkshires was named among the 10 best places to see fall colors in the U.S. by USA Today, which noted its fall foliage parade.
