Fall enthusiasts yearning for a New England getaway this season can choose from three regional destinations that “embody that true essence of fall,” according to Airbnb.

The online marketplace for rentals recently posted its 2024 fall trends and named Salem, Mass., Hartford, Vermont, and Bar Harbor, Maine among its “prime” fall destinations across the U.S. They were chosen based on the percentage of stays for the months of September through November 2023 compared to the rest of the year.

Fall is the most affordable season to travel, according to Airbnb, with prices per night at their lowest compared to the rest of the year. And many folks are heading to New England, as evidenced from Massachusetts and Maine ranking among the top three U.S. states with the highest percentage of stays in the fall (the other is North Dakota).
