The 5 best bed & breakfasts in Coastal Massachusetts, according to Yelp data

With Memorial Day right around the corner, the soft start to summer is just days away. And what sounds more like summer than a trip to Cape Cod?

With help from Yelp, we’ve rounded up the top five bed and breakfasts Coastal Massachusetts has to offer—all of which happen to be on Cape Cod—using Yelp data from May 2016.

1. Crowne Pointe Historic Inn (Provincetown)

With a full-service spa right on site, the Crowne Pointe Historic Inn has no shortage of pampering options. Using exclusively Kiehl’s products, the Shui Spa offers four different types of facials, including one specifically for men. Other services include hot stone massages, intensive deep tissue massages, body wrap therapy, and reflexology. There’s a nail salon for manicures and pedicures, and both treatments can come with a healthy lunch to make your afternoon completely carefree.

On the grounds, you’ll also find an outdoor pool and hot tub, The Lobby Lounge bar and restaurant with its extensive list of cocktails, and bicycle rentals.

In addition to a cooked-to-order breakfast, Crowne Point serves up a complimentary array of wine, beer, and gourmet cheese every evening by the pool.

The property is located right in the heart of P-town — just a half a block away from Commercial Street— making it a short walk from a plethora of shopping and dining options. While the distance to the National Seashore isn’t walkable, a trip to the beach is just a bike ride away. And if you’re really not looking to venture far for activities, the Inn itself hosts a number of organized events that align with themed weeks on the town’s calendar, such as documentary showings during the Provincetown International Film Festival in June and pool parties during Carnival Week in August.

2. Anchor In (Hyannis)

Located right on the Hyannis Inner Harbor, the Anchor In’s waterfront views will make you never want to leave the property’s private decks. Relax in a beach chair as you watch the ferries, fishing vessels, and yachts travel into the Nantucket Sound. According to co-hosts Lisa and Skip Simpson, guests love returning at sunset for the quintessential summer night scene. The outdoor pool also overlooks the harbor.

The Simpsons said that guests will commonly dine in the sunroom; its outdoor wicker chairs allow you to take in the sun’s rays while you enjoy a cup of coffee. Breakfast is served daily in the kitchen and includes freshly baked goods and seasonal fruit.

3. Captain’s House Inn (Chatham)

With croquet wickets and mallets available on the lawn and afternoon high tea served daily, Captain’s House Inn may make you feel as though you’re in England, not Chatham. Established in 1839, the Greek Revival-style mansion features 16 rooms across four guest houses. Upon walking into your room, you’ll be welcomed by a basket full of food, along with a fireplace and potentially a Jacuzzi tub, depending on the room. Guests can also choose to add on romantic extras, such as flower arrangements, chocolate-dipped strawberries, cheese and fruit boards, and champagne.

Co-hosts Jill and James Meyer are not only active travelers themselves, having been to 47 U.S. states, but also avid foodies. The couple said that they’re constantly exploring local restaurants and discovering hidden gems to share with their guests. The end of Old Harbor Road will bring you right to Main Street, which is full of restaurants and shops. If you’re in the mood for a longer stroll, you can reach Lighthouse Beach at the end of the road, about a half hour’s walk away. Be sure to grab one of the provided beach chairs, towels, and picnic coolers before you leave.

If you’re looking to exercise on the property grounds, there’s a small fitness center with a treadmill, cross-trainer, and free weights, as well as a heated pool. Captain’s House also has a library full of DVDs for a rainy day activity or family movie night.

4. Lamb and Lion Inn (Barnstable)

To host Tommy Dott, the Lamb and Lion is “a classic Cape Cod Inn with the spirit of a small luxury hotel.” Dott, who moonlights as an Elvis impersonator, said he prides himself on the property’s guest services.

“Unlike most B&Bs, we stress guest privacy,” he said, highlighting that visitors can “be as communal or as anonymous as they want to be.”

On site, you’ll find a solar-heated salt water pool, a year-round hot tub, and a wellness studio with massage and Reiki therapists. A gourmet continental breakfast is served daily, and there’s an à la carte menu available, as well.

The inn also provides self-guided driving tours, which give directions from the property’s driveway to popular spots — and hidden gems — on Cape Cod. According to Dott, these tours and the inn’s greatly discounted whale watch and island ferry tickets are two of his guests’ favorite amenities.

The inn has 10 rooms available to book, which range from a simple two-person bedroom to a horse barn. Dott said that his visitors are a “great mix of people from ages 25 to 75.”

5. Admiral’s Landing (Provincetown)

Hosts Robyn and Audri Bazlen-Weglarz said they fell in love with P-town so much when they started visiting in 2004 that they wanted to give others the chance to experience that same feeling. Five years later — with their wedding in between — Admiral’s Landing was born.

Though it’s an older home that was built in the 1850s, Robyn said that all eight air-conditioned rooms are in “novel” condition. Each one features a fireplace and private bathroom, three of which have Jacuzzi tubs.

Audri described the vibe of Admiral’s Landing as “personalized” and “intimate,” and said that the majority of their customers are couples over the age of 30. Visitors can add romantic packages to their stay that include wine, cheese, chocolate, and homemade cookies.

The property is located very centrally, making date nights a breeze. Though you won’t have to venture far for breakfast, an extended continental spread is served every morning and always includes an egg dish and a homemade baked good.

While meal time is listed from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., the window is not rigid; in fact, breakfast often runs into the early afternoon due to conversations amongst guests. Robyn emphasized that they’re not “hard-nosed” about the time because they want people to feel as though they’re in their “home away from home.”
