Celtics and JetBlue unveil team-branded plane
meet “Lucky Blue.”

The Celtics and JetBlue have revealed a new aircraft design in honor of Boston’s historic basketball franchise. Decked out in the team’s colors and logo, the Airbus A320 is JetBlue’s first co-branded plane dedicated to an NBA team.
The custom-designed aircraft was unveiled at Boston’s Logan International Airport Monday morning. Both Celtics and JetBlue executives were on hand for the presentation, as well as 24 students from Winthrop Middle School’s STEM Club.
“JetBlue and the Celtics play in the same backyard, and as the largest carrier in Boston, we want to support the teams that our neighbors are passionate about,” JetBlue’s executive vice president of commercial and planning, Marty St. George, said in a statement. “This partnership is core to what it means to be a part of this great city and we’re excited to see this livery take our relationship to new heights — both literally and figuratively.”
Unlike the “AirKraft,” “Lucky Blue” — at least for now — will not be used to transport players. The plane is, instead, an opportunity for Celtics fans to travel in style. According to JetBlue, there’s no specific way to book “Lucky Blue,” but the special plane will be used in their “normal slate” of those flying in and out of Boston.
“It’s great to be able to extend our partnership with JetBlue with the development of this unique co-branded aircraft,” Celtics president Rich Gotham said in a statement. “Celtics fans are everywhere, and it will be a special thrill for them to board this aircraft, sporting the iconic Celtics logo and colors.”
