Dine out at Black-owned restaurants

Will you accept the challenge? The Boston Black Restaurant Challenge invites you to support your local Black-owned businesses throughout February in honor of Black History Month. Save this list of restaurants when you plan your next reservation. (All month long; multiple locations)

Find a last-minute Valentine

If you meet a special someone at Wicked Craft Co.’s “crush hour” speed dating night, you’ll still have nine days to scrounge up a decent reservation for Valentine’s Day. Expect a few rounds of four-minute dates with a side of craft cocktails and tasty bites. (Wednesday, Feb. 5 from 8 to 10 p.m.; 54 Salem St., Boston; 21+; $25)

Make like Picasso and paint your pet

There are not one, but two pet-painting events this Thursday: This abstract pet portrait night at Craft Loft and a paint and sip option at the Boston Public Market (both require a pet pic to get you started!). Think of it as an early V-Day gift to your four-legged friend. (Thursday, Feb. 6; multiple times and locations; prices vary)

Go sleepless at The Speedway

A PJ party? A romance book pop-up from Read My Lips? A screening of “Sleepless in Seattle”? All for $5? Yes, yes, yes, and YES! It’s all at the Charles River Speedway on Thursday at its romcom pajama party. (Thursday, Feb. 6 from 6 to 9 p.m.; 525 Western Ave., Brighton; $5)

Dance all night at the museum

Stroll the Museum of Fine Arts this Friday night, as part of the museum’s “First Fridays,” a monthly event with music, dancing, art making, cocktails and bites. This month, explore the “Power of the People: Art and Democracy” exhibition and try a signature cocktail inspired by it. (Friday, Feb. 7 from 6 to 9 p.m.; 465 Huntington Ave., Boston; $27 general admission, free for members)

Experience a meeting of the GOATs

The Pats aren’t going to the Super Bowl anytime soon. But you can still celebrate the GOAT this Super Bowl weekend with a Tom Brady look-a-like contest at Time Out Market. Whether you yourself look like TB12, or you know someone who does, the winner gets a $200 cash prize. (Saturday, Feb. 8 from 2 to 3 p.m.; 401 Park Dr., Boston; free)

Out: The Super Bowl. In: The Puppy Bowl

If you can’t stomach rooting for the Eagles or the Chiefs, how about puppies? Park-9 Dog Bar is throwing its annual Puppy Bowl where adoptable pups from Sweet Paws Rescue will be duking it out on the field. The best part is you’ll walk away a winner, as there will be a post-game puppy meet and greet. (Saturday, Feb. 8 from 1 to 6:30 p.m.; 48 Waters Ave. #1, Everett)

Warm up with many bowls of ‘zole

The fourth annual Bowl of ‘Zole event is back. Eat to your heart’s desires at the ultimate pozole and agave spirits festival, where renowned New England chefs share their takes on this traditional Mexican stew and other classic dishes. Plus, try over 100 agave spirits, with several types of top-shelf tequila and mezcal in the drink lineup. (Saturday, Feb. 8 from 12 to 4 p.m.; 368 W Broadway, South Boston; $65)

Kick off the new year with a lion dance

Head over to Phillips Square in Chinatown to see Boston’s annual Lunar New Year celebration, starting with a lion dance parade throughout the neighborhood. Then keep the party going at Chinatown Trade Center to enjoy cultural activities, such as origami, Chinese calligraphy, performances, and more. (Sunday, Feb. 9 at 10 a.m.; multiple locations in Chinatown, Boston; free)

Watch the big game on the big screen

No Super Bowl plans? No problem. Sam Adams Brewery is throwing a Super Bowl watch party with the sound on all night at the Downtown Boston Taproom. Fun food deals, cold beer, wings, and (probably) Swifties will all make an appearance. Bonus: There will be a raffle on-site at the end of every quarter giving away taproom gift cards. (Sunday, Feb. 9 at 6 p.m.; 60 State St., Boston; free entry)
