The Boston Globe is hosting a Q&A with her on March 18 to discuss the news of the day, the Trump administration’s latest actions, and the future of progressivism in the U.S. Unfortunately, in-person capacity is already full, but you can still join virtually. (Tuesday, March 18 at 7 p.m.; virtual; free)
Head over to the Somerville Theatre for the 15th annual Bike Travel Film Festival, hosted by Ciclismo Classico. The event will feature a lineup of short indie films about bikers on adventures all over the world, from Burlington, Vermont, to Mexico City to the Balkans. Your ticket will also enter you into a prize drawing of gift certificates, bike jerseys, and more. Plus, part of the festival proceeds will go toward this year’s Pan-Mass Challenge. Note: Buy tickets in advance at a discounted price. (Tuesday, March 18 at 7 p.m.; 55 Davis Square; $29 at the door)
Jaju Pierogi is teaming up with the Polish American Citizen Club of Boston to host an all-you-can-eat pierogi buffet. Expect a healthy spread of dumpling goodness, a toppings bar, and a fully stocked bar with your favorite Polish and domestic beers. All profits will benefit the growth of the Polish American Women’s Scholarship. (Thursday, March 20 from 5 to 9 p.m.; 82 Boston St., Boston, MA; $33.85)
And by “roll,” we mean, roller skate. Chez Vous Rollerskating Rink is hosting a “Roll Up Skate Party” on March 20 with live music, games, and vendors, all under the disco lights. And yes, this event is totally beginner friendly. (Thursday, March 20 at 8 p.m.; 11 Rhoades St., Dorchester; $28.52)
Imagine: A handful of people reading their unedited thoughts from their teenage diaries to a group of strangers. Well, that’s exactly what you can expect at this “Mortified” live show at WBUR’s CitySpace. “Mortified” began 20+ years ago, when founder David Nadelberg discovered an unsent love letter he wrote as a teenager. He then asked his friends if they wanted to share their childhood writings on stage. The rest is history. (Friday, March 21 at 7 p.m.; 890 Comm. Ave., Boston, $25)
Remnant’s satellite cafe is throwing it back with a 2000s and early 2010s dance party on March 21. DJ and drag queen Tara Dikhof will be handling the tunes; Chito and Talia Hazard will be leading the entertainment; and grabbing an advance ticket guarantees entry until 10 p.m. Writer’s note: The fact the early 2010s are now considered “throwbacks” makes me sick. (Friday, March 21 at 9 p.m.; 877 Cambridge St., Cambridge; $12.51)
Break out your brackets, ‘cause March Madness is in full swing. The First Four kicks off March 18, and tons of local bars are running special events throughout the week to celebrate. Both the Sam Adams Taproom and Brewery are hosting March Mania watch parties, The Greatest Bar is throwing an epic March Madness kick off party, and from March 21-23, Scores is giving out free smashburgers (with chips) to the first 100 people through the door each day.(Multiple times, dates, and locations)
If you loved Scholastic book fairs as a kid, you’re going to love Bow Market’s annual book fair as an adult. This celebration of all things books is going down this weekend, featuring everything from storytime for kids, to cookbook swaps, to author signings, to literary drag trivia. (Saturday, March 22 from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.; 1 Bow Market Wy., Somerville; free)
We’re not entirely sure who comes up with these “national” holidays, but we’re not complaining since Park-9 Dog Bar is offering free entry to all dogs under the age of one in honor of National Puppy Day on March 23. There will be a socialization meetup, too, where a separate part of the park will be reserved just for puppies. (Sunday, March 23 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; 48 Waters Ave. #1, Everett)
Boston Public Market’s Fiberfest is on deck this weekend, bringing together New England fiber farmers, producers, and crafters. You can browse through the festival’s fiber art and goods, and enjoy workshops and demonstrations, including ones on needle felting and indigo dyeing. All products offered by the FiberFest vendors are grown, raised, landed, produced, or made in Massachusetts or New England. (Sunday, March 23 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; 100 Hanover St., Boston; free)
