There are two categories of moviegoers in the fall: the ones who love horror, Halloween, and gore, and the ones who’d much rather watch the warm nostalgic flick. Luckily, whether you’re looking for a real thrill or a cozy movie night, there is a movie screening for you.

Admittedly, most of the screenings around Greater Boston this season are for Halloween enthusiasts. But those spooky films range widely from serious bone-chillers like “The Conjuring” and “Annabelle” to not-so-scary childhood classics like “Hocus Pocus” and “Scary Movie.”

Many theatres are also celebrating the 50th anniversary of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” with special events and live shadowcast performances throughout the fall.
