Considering that ‘80s icons still rule much of pop culture — see: Stephen Spielberg directing a 2021 Oscar contender, gangsta-rap originator Dr. Dre headlining the next Super Bowl halftime show, that holiday M&M’s commercial that’s still on TV — it’s pretty mind-blowing to realize that 1980 was actually more than 40 years ago. Yet nostalgia for the eclectic decade has never faded — and who would want it to? From the glamorous freedom of expression manifested in big hair, tight pants, and bright colors, to the iconic music and movies, the 1980s are lots of folks’ favorite decade for reasons. So here’s the New Year’s Eve party for ‘80s babies and those who love them: Head to either Yellow Door Taqueria location (South End or Dorchester) beginning at 9 p.m. for juiced-up versions of throwback cocktails, the best of 80’s music, and nostalgic surprises all night long. Costumes are encouraged, and they could earn you prizes throughout the evening. The cover charge is $20 and includes a complimentary drink and a midnight shot; dinner reservations are open prior to the party.
