The Feast of Seven Fishes is an Italian-American Christmas Eve tradition, but in our seaside city of Boston, it doesn’t need to be Christmas Eve — and nobody needs to be Italian — to enjoy a festive feast of fish. We’re always on the lookout for fresh takes on this delicious tradition each season, such as the Feast of Seven Fishes Holiday Lunch series at Brookline cocktail-slash-raw bar Ivory Pearl. From December 13 through 17, a seven-selection menu of special seafood dishes graces the place before it opens as usual at 5 p.m. Dishes such as poached oyster toast on ciabatta with winter citrus, octopus spaghetti sprinkled in bottarga parmesan, and swordfish schnitzel bejeweled with dollops of cranberry mostarda and wasabi are available as a set for $150, or can be ordered à la carte. It’s all accompanied by winter party-ready libations created by Will Isaza, chief drinksmith at Brookline oases Ivory Pearl and Blossom Bar. Nothing fishy about the Feast’s five cocktail specials, but they are brimming with seasonal flair: A sparkling spritzer called the Thundercat Highball greets Ford’s Gin with Castelvetrano olive; and the Jom & Terry puts a plant-based spin on the classic Tom & Jerry hot eggnog by spiking steamed oat milk, black sesame, and espresso with sherry and 13-year-aged Plantation Trinidad Rum. Make a reservation at Ivory Pearl to enjoy this lunchtime celebration, though walk-ins are also welcome.
