Before DJ Stenzel Washington cues up a tropical fiesta at Casa Caña on New Year’s Eve, the Mexican restaurant and lounge at the Studio Allston Hotel will close out 2021 with a mezcal and tequila-soaked five-course dinner. With two seatings at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., chef Andy Whatley is dreaming up festive, Latin-influenced dishes to pair with Casamigos cocktails. The meal begins with a bubbly, blanco tequila screwdriver alongside a dish of uni composed with aji amarillo, pickled quince, and roasted garlic espuma; and the main event pairs a robust (aged tequila) Anejo old fashioned with chili- and cumin-spiced grilled lamb loin accompanied by Peruvian potatoes, poblano pebre, and aji verde. After all that agave, there’s no need to call a car home: Discounted room rates for diners are also on the menu for New Year’s Eve. The night doesn’t need to end with dessert, either. The music turns up at 9 p.m. for a NYE Fiesta. Cover charge for the dance party is $40 and includes party favors and a Casamigos toast at midnight.
