The Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular returns July 4 to the Hatch Memorial Shell on Charles River Esplanade in 2022 after a three-year hiatus from the venue due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The iconic event continues the Boston Pops’ historic tradition of sharing the gift of a free musical celebration with its hometown.
Keith Lockhart will conduct his 27th Fourth-of-July program with the Boston Pops. The lineup features the Boston Pops orchestra, the Tanglewood Festival Chorus, and the Middlesex County Volunteers Fifes & Drums.
The program includes a number of musical guests. Among the highlights of this year’s event are a performance from 10-time Grammy winner Chaka Khan, a tribute to the country of Ukraine, and a tribute to philanthropist David Mugar.
Mugar’s support of Boston’s Independence Day celebration starting in 1974 transformed the event into one of the country’s most recognized Independence Day celebrations, according to a statement from the Pops.
If you plan to attend in person, make sure you plan ahead. Crowds line up for a prime seat early. You can also watch the concert live on Bloomberg TV and Radio, as well as locally on WHDH-TV Channel 7.
