The world premiere of “Beasties: A Sci-Fi Rock Opera” is coming to Arlington’s Regent Theatre Oct. 10-11.

The show, featuring 18 songs, tells the story of a battle against evil to save the planet.

Grā, a retired singer, gets a job working as a stage manager for Voice, the lead singer of a rock band, ahead of the band’s concert in Central Park, but Grā becomes inhabited by an alien, Impulse, as a corrupt politician tries to take over the show.

Voice, Grā, Impulse, and the band “rally humanity and their inner ‘Beasties’ in order to save the planet,” according to a press release.

The show is written and produced by Boston-based musician Gary Sohmers, with arrangements by Bill Holloman.

“Beasties is a live, immersive, sci-fi graphic novel, a visual-storytelling, rockin’ and rollin’ musical theatrical experience all rolled into one,” Sohmers said in the press release. “It is an epic adventure that will have the whole audience singing along. We hope that it will be an experience you won’t soon forget.”
