Rock out with Dropkick Murphys on a St. Patrick’s Day Tour

The annual tradition returns, bringing four shows to town this St. Patrick's Day weekend.

Dropkick Murphys and lead singer Ken Casey play a St. Patrick's Day show at the House of Blues.

The boys are back — for four concerts in a row this time around. The Dropkick Murphys return to town this St. Patrick’s Day weekend, playing shows on March 14-17. The House of Blues hosts the March 14 show, while the other three are across the street at the MGM Music Hall. Friday’s show, on March 15, is “union solidarity night.”

The band’s Boston weekend falls in the middle of an international tour, starting on Feb. 13 in California and running through July 5 in France. California-based punk rock band Pennywise joins the Dropkick Murphys as a special guest during all four Boston shows, while Dublin rockers The Scratch will open.

Last year, the Celtic-punk band from Quincy toured in support of its album “This Machine Still Kills Fascists,” a tribute to folk legend Woody Guthrie. While the tour brought more acoustic-leaning shows, the band still brought out the electric guitars for St. Patrick’s Day weekend.

The band also began a tradition that it is bringing back this year. Folks with Saturday night show tickets are also eligible for tickets to a mini-concert geared toward kids on Saturday at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $150, all adults can bring two kids for free, and proceeds go to the band’s charitable foundation, the Claddagh Fund.
