Launched by film producer Patrick Jerome in 2003, the Boston International Film Festival returns this spring to bring independent films from all over the world to Boston.
The festival screens almost a hundred films each year, giving filmmakers and fans the opportunity to mingle and view each others’ work.
The 19th annual Boston International Film Festival will award for feature narrative, feature documentary, short narrative, and short documentary. In previous years, the festival has screened at locations like the AMC Boston Common theater, the Kendall Square Cinema, and Regal Cinemas in Fenway. Check their website for more updates about this years’ festival including locations, schedules, and films—accepted films will be announced in early March.
Alongside Boston-made films, the festival also screens national and international films, celebrating independent filmmaking and promoting dialogue between filmmakers. “Our greatest hope is that through these films the audience will be inspired and encouraged to embrace all the world’s cultural diversity,” said Jerome in the festival’s mission statement, “and work towards a more understanding, peaceful world.”
