Maybe it’s all the cold weather and snow — or the nourishing nature of soup in general — but we have been extremely into long-simmered comfort food lately. We know we’re not the only ones, considering a new food festival celebrating a certain kind of soup is coming to Boston on Wednesday, April 6.

Featuring regional chefs, Bowl of ‘Zole is serving 10 versions of pozole, a traditional Mexican soup made with hominy. To really crank the heat, the festival also highlights craft mezcal, with more than 50 spirits to sample alongside authentic and reimagined soups.

Pozole is a hearty stew with crunchy, fresh toppings, typically brimming with shredded pork or chicken. At Bowl of ‘Zole, you can expect vegetarian, seafood, and meat versions by local talent like Max Toste of Lone Star Taco Bar in Allston and Cambridge; Paul Ibarra of Barra in Somerville’s Union Square; Kristin Harlach of Pearl & Lime in Quincy; and Jake Rojas of Tallulah Taqueria, of Providence, R.I. Look out for more chef announcements and menu details as the date approaches.

The all-inclusive tasting event will be indoors at the South Boston Lithuanian Club, and proof of vaccination will be required to enter. All attendees will receive a complimentary copita, or stemmed tasting glass. Tickets are on sale now for general admission and VIP access, with perks like early festival entry, guided mezcal tastings, and a gift bag to bring home.
