Squeeze in some last-minute holiday cheer

Low on gifts? The Uphams Corner branch of the BPL is hosting a last-minute gift-making event where they’ll provide supplies and tools (including a sewing machine) to help you bang out woven bookmarks and holiday ornaments. All set on presents but low on cheer? The South Boston BPL branch’s screening of “Miracle on 34th Street” will fill your cup. (Tuesday, Dec. 24; multiples times and locations)

BYOD to a Kwanzaa jam

Translation: Bring your own drum. The week-long celebration of African-American culture kicks off Dec. 26, and the Roxbury BPL branch is getting things started with its own Kwanzaa celebration, featuring live performances, vendors, and more. And we’re not kidding about the drums! (Thursday, Dec. 26 from 2 to 5 p.m.; 149 Dudley St., Roxbury; free)

DIY some cozy staples

Cambridge Craft Loft is hosting TWO chunky-knit blanket-making classes this week. Think you have enough blankets? Fine. But you can NEVER have enough candles. So head to Lamplighter Brewing where you’ll whip up two natural soy wax candles yourself using festive holiday scents. (Multiple dates, locations, and prices)

Enjoy a Christmas classic with the Holiday Pops

Nothing screams Christmastime quite like the screams of “KEVIN!” from the iconic “Home Alone” film. But the film’s delightful score from composer John Williams is certainly a close second. You can hear exactly that as the Holiday Pops perform “Home Alone in Concert” live to picture. (Multiple dates and times; 301 Massachusetts Ave., Boston; ticket prices vary)

Cure your holiday hangover with ping pong

Going out? In the Seaport? For under $50? GASP. Now through Jan. 5, SPIN, Seaport’s ping pong bar, is offering a holiday promotion where you can get $10 off all table reservations and enjoy a $10 food and drink special (a burger plus your pick of a beer, bubbles, or a special gin-based cocktail). (Through Jan. 5; 30 Melcher St., Boston)

If cookies are on the menu this week they might as well be cute, right? Give them a glow up at this Boston Public Market cookie decorating class. Your ticket gets you 12 cookies, icing, and sprinkles, and even better, they’re all free of the major food allergens. (Friday, Dec. 27 at 1 p.m.; 100 Hanover St., Boston; $30)

Watch childhood classics take a … dirty turn

Tired: Disney adult. Wired: Disney adult content. The Dirty Disney comedy show takes the classics you love and flips them on their head, all dictated by your suggestions. It bills itself as a show for adults where you can bring your “inner child.” However, “nothing is sacred in this irreverent send-up of all the classics you remember.” (Friday, Dec. 27 at 9:30 p.m.; 74 Warrenton St., Boston; tickets start at $29)

Practice your “YES CHEF!”

Hand-pullled noodles are on the menu at this two-hour cooking class at Pagu in Cambridge where you’ll learn the ins and outs of this comfort-food staple. Fun fact: James Beard-nominated chef and Pagu owner Tracy Chang has given lectures on the science of hand-pulled noodles at Harvard and MIT, so you know it’s legit. (Saturday, Dec. 28 from 12 to 2 p.m.; 310 Massachusetts Ave., Cambridge; $119)

Trade reindeer games for dreidel games

Hanukkah is LATE this year (starts Dec. 25). But even if you’re not Jewish, take it as an excuse to keep the holiday vibes going at Lehrhaus’ Hanukkah party on Dec. 28. Expect latke and fried dough bars, welcome drinks, noshes, and dreidel games with prizes. (Saturday, Dec. 28 at 7 p.m.; 425 Washington St., Somerville; $54)

Take a (chilly) dip for a good cause

ICYMI: The iconic ice bucket challenge that raised millions for ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) turned 10 this year. To celebrate, the Peter Frates Family Foundation is bringing back its “Plunge4Pete” event where you can take an icy dip in the Atlantic at Good Harbor Beach in Gloucester to honor Pete Frates’ mission. (Saturday, Dec. 28 at from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; 34 Beach Rd., Gloucester)
