One million people have fled Ukraine since Russia launched a large-scale military attack on Feb. 24. Mainly women, children, and seniors, these people are seeking safety beyond Ukraine’s borders, often leaving quickly and without many necessities or comforts of home, including enough food to eat.
By going bowling around Boston on Monday, March 7, you can help. All locations of Kings Dining & Entertainment — including Back Bay, Seaport, Dedham, Burlington, and Lynnfield — are fundraising for World Central Kitchen and its effort to feed thousands of displaced Ukrainians crossing the country’s borders and those under attack at home.
From open until close on March 7 (hours vary across locations), Kings is offering a $50 package of bowling and shoe rental, plus a pizza and fountain drink. All proceeds will go to the Chefs for Ukraine initiative.
World Central Kitchen is an international organization which provides immediate food relief in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises. Founded in 2010 by celebrity chef José Andrés, the organization aims to respond quickly by partnering with local restaurants on the ground. Not only to feed people, but also to support local economies, rebuild communities, and tell people in their “darkest hour that someone, somewhere, cares about you,” Andrés said. “This is the real meaning of comfort food.”
Visit your local Kings on Monday, March 7 to participate, or donate directly to WCK Chefs for Ukraine.
