The Bluefin Blowout comes to Gloucester

The annual seaside event benefits the Alzheimer’s Association.

After a two-year hiatus, the Bluefin Blowout is back in the historic fishing port of Gloucester. Presented by the Lyon-Waugh Auto Group and now in its ninth year, New England’s premier giant bluefin tuna tournament will be hosted by Cape Ann’s Marina Resort for some of America’s best fishing. Competitors try to snag the fish, built for speed with torpedo-like bodies with retractable fins, and you’ll witness their weigh-ins for prizes (not to mention the coveted Bluefin Blowout Trophy).

Showcased on National Geographic’s hit series Wicked Tuna,” the Bluefin Blowout draws some of the East Coast’s best giant tuna fishermen competing in two days of fishing to reel in more than $60,000 in cash, jackpots, and prizes, all while benefiting the Alzheimer’s Association through generous donations.

The 2022 Bluefin Blowout will also include select vendor displays, a catered Captain’s Dinner, a BBQ dinner by the sea, raffles, a silent auction, and cash prizes.

Weigh-ins are free and open to the public, while the dinners and tastings are ticketed events.
