Produced by the MIT Museum, the Cambridge Science Festival (CSF) returns this fall to celebrate innovations in science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM). From Monday, Sept. 25 through Sunday, Oct. 1, festival goers will find STEAM-related activities throughout the city of Cambridge, like demonstrations, workshops, tours, debates, contests, and lectures.

Launched in 2007, CSF is supported by MIT, Harvard, and the city of Cambridge, among others, and draws around 100,000 attendees annually. Some events at the free, multi-day celebration take place at the Kendall/MIT Open Space at 292 Main St. in Cambridge, a public park filled with greenery, seating, and art. Other venues include the MIT Museum and public libraries.

This year, on Sunday, Oct. 1, the festival culminates with the Science Carnival, which attracts over 10,000 folks annually. The extravaganza, from noon to 4 p.m. in the Open Space, includes the popular Robot Petting Zoo and the Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream Freeze-Off competition, along with live music and demonstrations throughout the afternoon.

On Saturday, Sept. 30, the Cambridge Science Festival partners with Boston Fashion Week for a celebration of “smart fashion,” featuring panels, workshops, pop-up exhibits, and an evening fashion show at the intersection of fashion and technology.
